WTT
WTT Innovation is part of the WTT group. WTT is the worlds only technology company within wood modification. It has full R&D, Engineering, Project and Aftersales capabilities.
WTT – then DWT – was founded as a technology company by Mr. Niels Moldrup in 1977. Developing a series of new treatment systems, the company changed the face of European wood treatment in the 1970 and 1980s. After Mr. Moldrups passing, Mr. Bror Moldrup succeeded his father and changed the name to IWT. In 2003 the company, under new ownership, once again changed its name to WTT.
Our current owner Dr. Peter Klaas joined WTT in 2013. In 2022, Dr. Klaas handed over the MD role to Mr. Jakob Jakobsen. Chairman of the board is Mr. Karsten Cronwald.
As part of our technology development, we have a heavy focus on accredited 3rd party lab and field testing of product performance. This has allowed WTT to build an extensive database of scientific data, for the benefit of scientific research, the development of industrial standards and the continuous improvement of our process performance.
Non-biocide based modification technology
WTT is also involved in the development of new industrial standards for modified wood. WTT registered its 2nd generation thermal modification with the Nordic Wood Protection Council (NWPC) in 2018. So far, it is the only non-biocide based modification technology registered with a wood protection body. Currently Dr. Klaas is working with American colleagues in the AWPA on standard development.
WTT Innovation is successfully applying for international patents on an ongoing basis. Working closely together with the international scientific community, Dr. Klaas also co-authors academic papers based on WTTs extensive performance testing data. In this way WTT Innovation contributes to the ongoing scientific research that drives the continued development of wood modification by sharing new insights and understanding with the wider scientific community.
